Each state files tax liens differently. Some states file all tax liens at the Secretary of State office.
Others file Federal liens on businesses at the state level, and a Federal and State liens on individuals at the county level.
Some states file all tax liens at the county (or other internal) level.
When requesting tax liens searched, be aware this is an additional location we may being searching, and therefore, the fees charged per name will be charged additionally. These searches may take longer to receive if we are relying on a third party to retrieve the documents.
Although we try to keep our customers informed of costs, you may want to ask where the tax liens are filed if the state you are requesting a search conducted.
